SNOW IN PADUM

●La neve è caduta a Padum in Marzo e le strade di Padum sono state pulite con mezzi meccanici. Il Consigliere Phunchok Tashi si augura di riuscire a far aprire il valico del Pensila per il 15 di aprile, un mese prima dell'usuale apertura. Clicca sulla immagine per ingradirla.

●La neige tombait à Mars à Padum et les rues ont été nettoyées par des moyens mécaniques. Conseiller Phunchok Tashi espère d'ouvrir le Pensila pour Avril 15, un mois avant l'ouverture habituelle. Cliquez sur l'image pour l'agrandir.

●Around 1.5 feet of snow measured in the evening of March 4th as the snowfall continued for the second consecutive day. Meanwhile all the mode of transportation were standstill due to heavy snowfall, which used to ply to nearby areas like Zangla , Karsha, Stod Area.

Snow clearance machines (Dozer) were finally pressed into service on March 10th to clear off the snow from the road so that locals can walk with ease and can ply their vehicles on the road. RESCUE IN ZANSKAR GORGE -  SALVATAGGIO SUL TCHADAR - SAUVETAGE SUR LE TCHADAR

●Ai primi di marzo, un centinaio di Zanskar-pa, partiti a stagione avanzata da Leh, sono rimasti bloccati nelle gole del Tchadar. Squadre di soccorso li hanno raggiunti permettendo di affrontare i passaggi di roccia e raggiungere Padum.

●Au début de Mars, cent Zanskar-pa ont été bloqués dans les gorges de Tchadar. Les équipes de secours les atteint et les a aidés à surmonter les roches et atteindre Padum.

●Due the breakage of tChadar at a place called Yocha (63kms from Padum) hundreds of people got stranded, and a rescue party under the supervision of SDM Zanskar comprising of a Police party/Medical team/Army and volunteers from Zangla and Padum rushed to the spot on 2nd March. Around 105 people have been rescued so far. According to the latest reports a dozen more people are on their way to Padum from Leh. And they are being rescued today the 4th of March. For the convenience of the travellers the whole party are camping at Nilima since 2nd of March. Meanwhile the travel on tChadar had been restricted from either side (Padum-Nimoo). ●Il prof. Rajiv Thakur ha scattato queste foto domenica 25 marzo sui pendii di Marthang, area militare ad est di Pibiting. Il Preside è a destra accanto a lui. Le altre immagini sono della primavera 2011: i nostri studenti hanno noleggiato gli sci presso la Zanskar Ski School.

●Hier, un ancien élève de LMHS pendant les vacances d'hiver (hiver 1992). Aujourd'hui, les étudiants sont à l'école Avril 3, 2012.

●Ieri: un ex allievo della LMHS durante le vacanze invernali (inverno 1992). Oggi, gli allievi si presentano alla scuola il 3 aprile 2012.

●Yesterday, a former student of LMHS during the winter holidays (1992). Today, students at  school, April 3, 2012. This recent photo of our school in Zanskar just arrived from Manju, a friendly teacher, via our Italian office and Facebook. Due to the cold temperatures, the kids are not wearing the school uniform that they wore in summer

They are in the paved inner school yard inside the U-shaped school building. You can see the Principal's office in the upper right-hand.
